What a face rating out of 10 means here

A face rater is only useful if you can see why it gave the number. Ours rates eight features separately and shows you the measurements behind the three strongest ones. A 7 means most of your measurements sit inside the balanced ranges with a few near misses; a 9 means almost every measurement is in range and your face is very symmetric in this photo.

Rating What it usually means in this tool
8.5–10 Nearly every measurement in range, high symmetry
7.5–8.4 Very well balanced, one or two near misses
6.5–7.4 Above average balance with standout features
5.5–6.4 Balanced overall with a few distinctive features
4.0–5.4 Distinctive features, or a photo with hard light or a turned head

The eight features we rate

  • Symmetry (22%): how closely the left and right sides mirror each other.
  • Facial thirds (14%): the mid-face against the lower face.
  • Face proportion (12%): face height against cheekbone width.
  • Eye spacing (12%) and canthal tilt (10%): how far apart your eyes are and how they angle.
  • Jaw angle (12%): the angle at the corner of your jaw.
  • Nose width (10%) and lip balance (8%).

Getting a fair rating

Take the photo at arm’s length with the camera at eye level, in soft light from the front, with a neutral face. Front cameras held close make noses look wider and jaws narrower, which lowers two features at once. Then compare two or three photos.

The rating describes geometry in one photo. It is not a judgment of you, and it is not medical or cosmetic advice.
